The Foundation recently hosted the 4th Annual Retinal Innovation Symposium, bringing together leading retinal experts, venture capitalists, biopharmaceutical companies, and biomedical entrepreneurs interested in advancing retinal research.

Gene Therapy Clinical Trial for Stargardt Disease to Begin this Year
For patients affected with Stargardt disease, there is new reason for hope. Oxford BioMedica, a gene therapy company in the U.K., has received FDA authorization to launch a clinical trial of its StarGen™ gene therapy for the treatment of Stargardt disease. 

A Valuable Opportunity Exists in Federally Funded Research
An opinion editorial, penned by Foundation chief science staff members Drs. Steven Bramer and Stephen Rose, advocating for increased federal support of embryonic stem cell research was published on The Hill’s Congress Blog.

UPDATED: Participants Recruited for Valproic Acid Clinical Trial
The National Eye Evaluation and Research network, the clinical trial network of the Foundation Fighting Blindness, is now recruiting participants for a Phase II clinical trial of valproic acid to evaluate the drug’s effectiveness in slowing vision loss for people with autosomal dominant forms of retinitis pigmentosa (adRP).

The Foundation Fighting Blindness hosted its 5th Annual Orange County Dining in the Dark Visionary Awards Dinner honoring J. Andy Corley and Baruch D. Kuppermann, M.D., Ph.D.

'For the Love of Sight' Dinner Unites Members of Congress to Fight Blindness
More than 300 leaders from Washington, D.C.’s political and lobbying communities came together March 29 to honor two visionaries and benefit the Foundation’s mission to drive retinal research.
