Emerging Treatment for Retinal Diseases Gets the Message Right
With the support of Foundation funding, researchers are working on a drug that could correct errors in DNA messaging – the cause of about 12 percent of all retinal degenerative diseases.
Looking for Genes in All the Right Places An innovative search technique known as whole-exome sequencing is dramatically reducing the time, effort and expense it takes to discover genetic defects that cause retinal disease.

the Future The Foundation Fighting Blindness celebrated 40 years
of breakthroughs, progress and hope in retinal research during its VISIONS 2011
national conference, held June 23-26 in the Foundation's founding city,
Baltimore, Maryland.
Overcoming Obstacles
Inspired by her son, Jacob, Jessica Rider led her 11-person team in Ruckus Boston, a 5K obstacle course race, to raise money for the Foundation through the Race to Cure Blindness.
