Getting Started
Participating in the Race to Cure Blindness program is as easy as 1-2-3!
Step 1: Register for your race Whether you are running, biking, swimming, or participating in any other kind of event – you can use your participation to fundraise for the Foundation!
First, you need to officially enter or qualify for your race with the official race organizers. For example, if you are running in the Chicago Marathon, you must register on the official Chicago Marathon website.
Step 2: Visit RaceToCureBlindness.org Click on any of the registration button options to join Team Race to Cure Blindness. From there, you will be directed through the registration process and upon completion, you will arrive at your personal fundraising page which ready to be customized for you to begin your fundraising effort. Should you have any questions, please contact the Foundation Fighting Blindness at (800) 683-5555 or Webmaster@FightBlindness.org.
Step 3: Raise money! To get started in your fundraising, download our Starter Packet which will help you create your personal fundraising page. Set a financial goal and make an online donation to your page so you can be your own first sponsor! We suggest that you set a goal of $500 as our past participants have had great success fundraising at that level and beyond.
Collect donations on behalf of the Foundation Fighting Blindness and keep track of your progress by using our easy online fundraising tools:
- Create your own webpage
- Tell your personal story and upload a photo
- Email it to everyone you know
Watch the money pour in and the fundraising thermometer on your personal website rise!
