Race to Cure Blindness is a fundraising program where participants utilize a marathon, triathlon, bike race, or other racing event as a platform to raise money for the Foundation Fighting Blindness' mission to drive the research that will provide preventions, treatments, and cures for the entire spectrum of retinal degenerative diseases..
If you would like to use your racing effort to raise money for the Foundation, the Race to Cure Blindness is an excellent way to make your participation more meaningful and to motivate you when the going gets tough.
This program unites people participating in existing races throughout the country with a very worthy cause: furthering the mission of the Foundation Fighting Blindness!

Run Walk Ride Founder & President Runs for Race to Cure
David Hessekiel is challenging himself to run a half marathon before he turns 51 years old and has chosen us as his charity of choice for the the Hamtpons Half in October. Race to Cure's Coach Michael Stone, 10x Ironman competitor and USA triathlon certified trainer affected by cone-rod dystrophy, will be coaching him along the way.
Frigo's Big Challenge to Bike Across America Takes Off
In three weeks, Bubba Frigo and his father, Air Force Reserve Senior Master Sgt. James Frigo, Sr., 452nd Logistics Readiness Squadron fuels superintendent at March Air Reserve Base, Calif., will embark on a bicycle ride across America where they will raise money to help find a cure for Bubba and the estimated 100,000 others who suffer from RP. Lee Shayler - Never Walking Alone
Lee Shayler calls it the double whammy. In December 2009, he lost the little remaining vision he had to advancing retinitis pigmentosa. Then, in March 2010, he was laid off from his job at IBM.
As a 49-year-old husband and father of three teenagers, the future is daunting for Lee, as he seeks new employment and learns how to use adaptive technologies so that he can continue doing the information technology work he has done over the last 25 years. “It’s like I am 17 again and starting over,” he says.
