Sample Personal Fundraising Page Text

Here are a few examples of what you, as a Leader, might post to your personal VisionNation campaign page.  But this should be a personal appeal from you to those you know and love.  So adapt these texts as you see fit or create your own.  If you prefer, feel free to copy any or all of this text into your page.  While you think about what you would like to say, here are some key things to remember:

In every case it is important to do three things:

  • Explain what you are doing.
  • Explain why you are doing it.
  • Ask for a donation to support you and your VisionNation campaign goal.  Directly asking people to give is important.  Subtle hints usually don’t result in people making gifts.

It is nice to include:

  • Why fighting blindness and restoring sight is especially important to you
  • Why you support the Foundation Fighting Blindness

 Giving the Gift of Sight

Our family is affected by Stargardt Disease, a disease that slowly robs people of their sight.  It is genetic and it strikes the very young.  Because of Stargardt, we know what it is like to watch our child lose the ability to read, see the beauty of a sunset, play baseball and ride a bike.

The Foundation Fighting Blindness drives the research that is finding treatments and cures for devastating eye diseases like Stargardt.  They have achieved so much!  And there are actually more clinical trials of potential treatments underway today than at any other time in history.  In one of those trials—a gene therapy treatment—they have actually succeeded in restoring sight.

But more needs to be done.  Many genes that cause sight-robbing diseases have yet to be discovered.  In addition, there are other blindness diseases that have different causes and require entirely different cures.

Julie and I have long supported the Foundation’s efforts, knowing that while they may not be able to help us, they will be able to help our grandchildren, as well as millions of others around the world.  This year, we’re asking our friends and family to pool resources with us to make a big gift in honor of the entire Amatteti family.  Such a gift will truly be one for the future.  And, if each of us gives just $75, the total Amatteti Family Gift would be more than $2,500—what an impact that could have!

What’s more, the Foundation Fighting Blindness’s Chairman, Gordon Gund, and his wife Lulie, are so committed to this fight, they have agreed to match donations made through the end of this year DOLLAR-FOR-DOLLAR.  That means that the Amatteti Family Gift of $2,500 will have DOUBLE the impact—$5,000.

It’s so easy to join in.  Just hit DONATE above and give what you can to the Amatteti Family Gift for sight.  Your donation is tax-deductible.

Thank you for showing once again what a great bunch the Amatteti family really is!  If you have any questions about our campaign for sight or the Foundation Fighting Blindness, just let Julie or I know.

Give a gift that keeps on giving!

This year I’m celebrating my 39th birthday (again).  And I would like to ask you to do something really special.  Instead of buying me an ordinary gift, please make a donation to the Foundation Fighting Blindness.

The Foundation works to find treatments and cures to end blindness and restore sight.

As my birthday approaches, I think about all the places I’ve traveled with so many of my friends and I am so grateful to have been able to see those wonderful places.  I’d like to do a little something to help give others that same opportunity and I thought you’d like to help too.

So please click the DONATE button above in honor of my birthday.  It takes minutes to complete a gift and you don’t have to go to the mall and deal with crowds, wonder what on earth I might want or need, or pay shipping to get it to me on time.  A gift to the Foundation Fighting Blindness is even tax-deductible!

And there’s a very special reason for helping in the fight to end blindness today.  The Foundation’s chairman, Gordon Gund, along with his wife, Lulie, has agreed to match gifts given by the end of this year DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR.  That’s right!  If you give today, the Gunds will match your gift to literally DOUBLE its impact.  So your gift of $50 will become $100 for the Foundation.

Thank you so much for remembering my birthday by helping others.  It’s a really special way to celebrate and I so appreciate it.  You guys are the best.

Holiday Season

Macular degeneration—a sight robbing disease—has touched several members of my family.  Dad and Uncle Charlie in particular.  I’ve witnessed how this disease slowly stole their vision and what that meant in terms of their daily life:  losing the ability to read and see the beauty of a sunset, restrictions on their mobility and independence.

In this joyous holiday season, I wanted to do something really meaningful to fight this dreadful disease.  The Foundation Fighting Blindness is a real leader in the effort to find treatments and cures for an array of blindness diseases.  And researchers funded by the Foundation have been pioneers in the field.  Their work is having serious results.  In a recent clinical trial of a gene therapy, they have actually succeeded in restoring sight!

But so much more needs to be done to reach a comprehensive cure for the diseases that rob us of our sight, including the one that destroyed Dad’s and Uncle Charlie’s vision.  And now is a very special time to help because the Foundation’s chairman, Gordon Gund, along with his wife, Lulie, has agreed to match gifts given by the end of this year DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR.  That’s right!  If you give today, the Gunds will match your gift to literally DOUBLE its impact.  So your gift of just $50 will become $100 for the Foundation.

At this precious time of the year, I hope you will support me in this effort to end blindness.  To give today simply hit the DONATE button above.  Your gift of any amount will be much appreciated and it is also tax-deductible.  Thank you for whatever you can do today and very best wishes for a happy holiday season and a joy-filled New Year.

In Honor of

My mother, Susan Anderson, lost her sight due to Retinitis Pigmentosa in 1988.  It was devastating to her and our family.  Although Mom has learned how to live a full life without her sight, she still hopes for a cure that will help her see again and she hopes that science will find treatments so that others don’t lose their sight from this disease.

That’s why our family is supporting the Foundation Fighting Blindness.  The Foundation raises funds to find treatments and cures for an array of blindness diseases.  Researchers funded by the Foundation have been pioneers in the field and their work is having serious results.  In a recent clinical trial of a gene therapy, they have actually succeeded in restoring sight!

If you have ever enjoyed my mother’s coffee and her conversation, or if you have ever been uplifted by a few kind words from her, please give to end blindness and restore sight in honor of her.   To do so, simply hit the DONATE button above.

And now is such a great time to give.  The Foundation’s chairman, Gordon Gund, along with his wife, Lulie, has agreed to match every gift given by the end of this year DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR.  That’s right!  If you give today, the Gunds will match your gift to literally DOUBLE its impact.  So your tax-deductible gift of $50 will become $100 for the Foundation.

Thank you so much for honoring Mom in this way and for supporting the amazing and important work of the Foundation Fighting Blindness.  I so appreciate it.

In Memory of

Dr. Stephen Parker Moore died on August 19, 2010.  As an ophthalmologist, he spent his career helping to make sure his patients could see the world.  He was always devastated when he discovered that a patient had a disease that would result in loss of sight.

That’s why he was a supporter of the Foundation Fighting Blindness’s work.  The Foundation drives the research to find treatments and cures for a number of diseases that cause people to lose their sight.

I hope you will consider remembering my father, Dr. Stephen Parker Moore, by making a donation in his memory to the Foundation.  Now is a great time to give.  First, because the Foundation is standing at a historic moment with 7 clinical trials of potential treatments underway.  And, in one trial, they have actually succeeded in restoring sight.

Second, because the Foundation’s chairman, Gordon Gund, along with his wife, Lulie, has agreed to match every gift given by the end of this year DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR.  So if you give today, the Gunds will match your gift to literally DOUBLE its impact.  Your tax-deductible gift of $50 will become $100 for the Foundation.

To give a gift today, simply click on DONATE above.  Dad spent his entire adult life helping others and protecting vision.  My family and I will be so grateful that he is remembered in this deeply meaningful way.  Please accept our sincere thanks for whatever you can give today.
