Congratulations San Diego!!
CONGRATULATIONS on the success of the 2nd Annual San Diego VisionWalk at Mission Bay / De Anza Cove on November 8, 2009!
The weather was "California" perfect– sunny and 70 degrees as more than 20 Teams and over 300 Walkers enjoyed a great day on the bay. We began the morning with a continental breakfast under overcast skies, but the clouds departed just as we began to walk our 5K trek.
Many thanks to Jeanne Rawdin – Channel 4 News, and Brian Christie of Wealth TV’s Boomer show who emceed the event and lead us in the morning’s festivities.
And, thank you to the Walk Chair – Erin Goodwin-Allen and the Business Chair – Andre Hardy of Optelec and ShopLowVision.Com!!
A special thanks to the USA Jump Stars who put on an outstanding jump rope exhibition!!
So far the Walk has raised over $36,000. But we will keep an eye on that thermometer over the coming weeks, as it will continue to rise! We will continue to accept donations throughout the next few weeks so please continue to bring them in.
Congratulations to all of our Teams!! The top 5 Teams are as follows:
Erin’s Remarkable Pals
ShopLowVision.Com Visionaries
Team Terrific
Blind Ambition
Team Tall
Many special thanks to our sponsors whose support helped to make this event a success:
Optelec and ShopLowVision.Com
Walmart
California Telephone Access Program
Horizon Oxygen & Medical Equipment
A HUGE thanks goes out to all of the volunteers for getting up in the wee hours of the morning to help us with all the logistical details in the set up of the event. We could not be more appreciative.
Don’t forget that even though the Walk is over, we are still accepting donations! So please continue to reach out to everyone who said they were going to donate and get them to put their checks in the mail.
Once again, many, many thanks to all who participated towards the success of VisionWalk!!
