Happy 10th Anniversary Charlotte VisionWalkers!

Did you know that over the last decade, the Charlotte VisionWalk has raised over $650,000 for critical, sight-saving research?  With numerous clinical trials now underway, VisionWalk is more important than ever.

Since the first Charlotte VisionWalk ten years ago, there have been incredible advances in the fields of gene therapy, stem cell research and more.  We are close to finding a cure for blinding retinal degenerative diseases!  Every step at VisionWalk brings us closer!

♦Register your team today
Register your team and receive each VisionWalk notification via email and/or mail.  Do not miss a single VisionWalk update!

Set a goal
Decide how much your team will raise and how many team members will help you do it.  Don't forget, when you have a goal to share, people are more likely to give to help you reach it!  P.S. Don't be afraid to increase your goal.  Meeting your goal early or anticipating reaching that goal is a sign of SUCCESS!

Personalize your fundraising website
Your personal fundraising website is a free and valuable tool.  It is a great place to share your VisionWalk story and also a place for your supporters to donate.  Add pictures, a message and more.

Share your story
As you begin fundraising and building your team, you will see that people want to support you.  They want to support you because you have a story to share.  Share your VisionWalk story on your personal fundraising page, emails and letters to potential supporters and team members, social media and in conversation.  Your story can be short and as easy as:

Why? Why is the Foundation's research important to you...

Who? Who is affected by a retinal degenerative disease...

What? What is VisionWalk...

How? How can people support you...

Create a list of fundraising ideas
How do you plan to raise money for research that is curing blindness?  Take a few moments to make a list of ways you can reach the most people and ask for their support.  Here are a few ideas to get your started!

-Write emails or letters to your contacts

-Share VisionWalk with your local civic groups

-Ask your church or school to post an announcement and link to your website in their bulletin or newsletter

-Talk with your employer about Matching Gift Opportunities

-Post a link to your personal fundraising page on social media

-Ask local businesses you frequent for financial support

-Plan a fundraiser with a local restaurant (many restaurants have charity nights)

-Place a donation jar on your desk at work

Recruit your team members
Ask family and friends to save the date for the Charlotte VisionWalk.  Encourage them to join you and follow the easy steps to success!  Remember, all money raised by your fellow team members rolls in to your fundraising team total!  Make it a goal today to become Charlotte's biggest and highest fundraising team!
