Philadelphia VisionWalk 2013

Thank You to the 20 teams that participated in our GE Lighting Challenge!!  You raised $63,000 in just two weeks for the Walk!!!

Each of these teams will receive a $500 gift to put toward their team fundraising, courtesy of GE Lighting! Our teams did a fantastic job raising
funds and awareness over these two weeks! Congratulations!!!

Important Walk Information:

For directions to the park, please click here.

Parking:

There is parking underneath the Park in the Independence Visitor Parking Center, entrance is on 5th Street between Market and Arch.  If you have an oversized vehicle, other parking options are available, please click here to view.

Walk Route:

For the walk route, please click here. The route is through the streets of Philadelphia, if you have a wheelchair or stroller, it is safer to stay on park property and walk the perimeter of the park.

Due to our event size, only Guide Dogs are allowed on park property during the walk.


Registration:

All participants, please check in at the Registration tables inside the Independence Visitor Center, even if you have pre-registered on the website. 
For day of event site map to locate registration and bathrooms, please click here. There will be signage and volunteers throughout the park to help you get to where you need to be.

If you have not already sent in your money, please convert all cash into checks payable to Foundation fighting Blindness  and bring everything with you to the walk.

T-Shirts:

Every registered participant who raises $100 or more will receive an official VisionWalk T-Shirt. We will have shirts available in sizes small through 2XL. The shirts are available on a first-come, first-served basis for sizes. Please stop by the T-Shirt Tent early in the day to get your choice of size! 

Sponsor and Community Booths:

Mid-Atlantic Retina, Scheie, Alcon, GE Lighting and the Free Library of Philadelphia will have tables inside the Visitor Center near registration with take away information and goodies! 

**** We will provide white bags for everyone to collect their items as the park does not allow any giveaways with logos from sponsors on actual walk property.  Please do not use any giveaways the day of the walk!

Activities: 

VisionWalk is a family friendly event. We will have various activities for children of all ages, including face painting, a balloon artist, a bounce house, pumpkin decorating and HALLOWEEN candy!  Mario the Drexel Dragon will also be swinging by to say Hi and take photos with everyone, make sure to have your camera ready! 

Please bring your entire family to join in on the fun and excitement - including our Team Spirit Contest!
  You can show your team spirit with matching team t-shirts, team hats or team banners, just to name a few ideas.  We encourage everyone to participate in the contest and be sure to cheer for your team!  

We will also have plenty of snacks and refreshments - including a post-Walk lunch!

Team Tents:

We are allowed to have small team tents at this location, please note the tents can not be staked to the ground and do damage in any way, they must be weighted down.  Please refer to the location map for where your tents can be set up.

****If you are doing a team tent and I have not already heard from you, please let me know by October 9th.

Rain Plan:

The Walk is a rain or shine event. The forecast is looking a bit wet, so bring your ponchos, hats and rain shoes!
